Westport Marina
Modernization Project
Westport Marina Modernization Plan
The Westport Marina is ranked among the largest seafood landing ports in the United States and is home to Washington’s biggest fishing fleet. Serving as the regional hub for seafood processing in the PNW, vessels from Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, and British Columbia call on the Westport Marina for safe moorage, seafood offload, and a host of services.
More than 2,700 jobs are attributed to the seafood industry in Westport. The economic, social, and historical significance of commercial fishing and seafood processing in rural Grays Harbor County is tremendous.
With five major seafood processing companies, including an expanding tribal seafood processing facility and over 275 commercial fishing vessels calling on the marina throughout the year, a well-functioning facility is critical to industry retention and growth. The Westport Marina floating infrastructure is well beyond its useful life in form and function. Nearly 50 years old and built for a fleet of the past, the docks are in significant disrepair and no longer fit the longer, wider boats.
The Westport Modernization Plan is the road map for the phased replacement, rehabilitation and reconfiguration of the Westport Marina floating dock infrastructure. Consisting of six near, mid, and long-term phases, the plan will replace the aging infrastructure critical for safe moorage, seafood offload, and ocean recreation access.
Phase 1 of the Marina Modernization Plan consists of four major projects:
Float 21 Replacement, Float 19 Removal
60% Design Complete, Construction Partially Funded
Float 15 & 17 Replacement
Float 11 Work Float
Float 11 Dock Rehabilitation
All projects will include new Access Abutments, ADA-accessible ramps, upgraded electrical and water systems.
