Nelson receives Distinguished Service Award

November 2022

Port of Grays Harbor Executive Director Gary Nelson received Pacific Northwest Waterways Association’s (PNWA) Distinguished Service Award at its Annual Convention on October 12, 2022.  The award honors recipients for their significant contributions to the Northwest navigation, energy, irrigation and recreation communities.

Mr. Nelson has been with the Port of Grays Harbor since 2000, where he has overseen historic growth and diversification of the marine terminals, the completion of Deeper Draft, and the addition and expansion of the Port’s business portfolio to include the Satsop Business Park and Friends Landing.

“Gary is truly deserving of this award, both for his contributions to the Port of Grays Harbor, but also to the port and maritime industry as a whole,” explained Port of Grays Harbor Commission President Tom Quigg.  “He has very much led a “distinguished” career and we are grateful for his service and leadership.”
