Xpress Natural Gas opens the Northwest’s first CNG facility at the Satsop Business Park

August 2016 – Xpress Natural Gas’s (XNG) first Northwest compressed natural gas (CNG) facility is open and ready for business at the Satsop Business Park. On Wednesday, Port Commissioners and staff, elected officials, and local business leaders joined XNG representatives to celebrate the grand opening of their newest CNG facility that will service regional industries, including anchor customer Port Townsend Paper.

XNG’s CNG distribution terminal in the West Park area utilizes one of the Park’s greatest assets, the Williams’ natural gas line, to fill portable tubes for transport to Port Townsend Paper. XNG has invested more than $6 million in equipment and trucks and trailers to support the first phase of its project with Port Townsend Paper.

“We are incredibly excited to be here in the Northwest. From the start, the level of support and outreach from the Satsop Business Park has been helpful and refreshing. We originally looked at other locations in Puget Sound, but were fortunately introduced to Satsop Business Park and everything clicked. Because of this, our project happened even faster than we had hoped,” said Matthew Smith, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for XNG. “We look forward to growing our customer base and being a part of the community for years to come”.

“We are pleased to welcome XNG to the Satsop Business Park and Grays Harbor. XNG’s facility is a true testament to the combined value of the Park’s unique infrastructure, our strategic location for our tenants to serve Western Washington & Oregon, and the capability to encourage our customers’ growth,” said Alissa Shay, Manager of Business Development at the Satsop Business Park.

XNG, founded in 2011, provides trucked natural gas solutions to industrial and utility customers in locations where a pipeline does not provide gas service. XNG operates the largest fleet of high-capacity, all-composite CNG trailers in North America and is the only provider of CNG services using CNG-powered tractor-trucks.

Satsop Business Park, a facility of the Port of Grays Harbor, is less than 2 hours southwest of Seattle and 2 hours north of Portland. Located in scenic Grays Harbor County in Elma, Washington, the 1,800 acre mixed-use business and industrial park is approximately 30 minutes from Olympia and the I-5 Corridor. A part of the Grays Harbor Innovation Partnership Zone, the Park is home to more than 30 businesses, offers 600 acres of developed, pad-ready land and buildings supported by super-sized infrastructure, and is surrounded by 1,200 acres of sustainably managed forestland.
